The Tampere University of Applied Sciences Health Students Association – PIRATE ry is a student association of students of well-being and health fields at TAMK, which includes students of nursing, nursing, paramedics, physiotherapy, midwifery, bioanalysis and radiology. Its purpose is to promote the general and common interests of its members.
PIRATE is a student organisation which includes all students who have paid their fees and are studying in the health fields at Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
PIRATE’s activities are overseen by the membership and managed by a Board members, which elects a Chairperson, Vice chairperson and 3-12 members each year. The Board of Directors is elected annually at the Autumn Meeting from among the members. Members can take an active role and contribute to the planning and implementation of activities.
The association’s roots date back to the 1960s, when it was called the Tampere Nursing School Students’ Association. Later, when the name of the school was changed, the name of the association also took several different forms. The current name “Tampere University of Applied Sciences Students in Health Care – PIRATE ry” has been in use since the beginning of 2010, when PIRAMK merged with TAMK.
PIRATE’s office is located at Kuntokatu 3 L-building, next to the Cell “solu”. Students can come to the office when the office is open, we inform office hours here on website and our other social medias Facekoob and Instagram.
Through PIRATE, members can easily order overalls, as well as workwear and name badges for future internships.
